CEDAR RIDGE MALTED RYE WHISKEY WINS ANOTHER GOLD

CEDAR RIDGE MALTED RYE WHISKEY WINS ANOTHER GOLD

Swisher, IA – May 20, 2015, Cedar Ridge Malted Rye Whiskey receives its second gold medal in 2015 from the Los Angeles International Spirits Competition with 91 points. The first gold medal being earned at the Denver International Spirits Competition in April.

Since its release in September 2014, Cedar Ridge Malted Rye Whiskey is making history, being one of only few ever produced. As opposed to other rye whiskeys- which are quite common- Cedar Ridge uses malted rye in its grain bill. To malt, the rye grains are soaked in water to germinate, then given a blast of hot air. Malting the rye generates an enzyme that is naturally helpful with the mashing process and adds weight and an extraordinarily complex flavor profile of toast and biscuit to the whiskey.

Master Distiller Jeff Quint notes, “This country has a lot of rye whiskeys, many of which taste similar. As a small producer, our goal is to differentiate our products from all others.”

Cedar Ridge brings you the first licensed distillery in the state of Iowa since the age of prohibition. Cedar Ridge Winery & Distillery is a family-owned winery, distillery and event space nestled in the beautiful Iowa countryside. Award-winning wines and internationally recognized spirits are produced on site at the only winery & distillery in Iowa.
